ELF JR. (Sept-Dec 2024)

My second show was Elf Junior for the Biggest Little Theatre Company. I designed the pieces for the entire set on this one! This Elf set was all about keeping it simple in terms of set changes.  Travis and I made a 10 foot tall tower, which is a triangular prism that breaks into 2 foot sections. The tower is sturdy and balanced, rotates on caster wheels and is light enough for a child to move.

Two sides light up, which were used for the Empire State Building and a huge Christmas tree.  The final side was a simple office/home window and wall. These murals are each 4 feet by 10 feet, and completely hand painted and designed by myself.

Besides the tower, I also designed six blocks with four painted sides. These blocks could be used to create a number of scenes, and act as an elf table, wreaths, office furniture, a board room, gifts, a fireplace , Santa's chair and of course a sleigh.

This was a really fun set to design, and my first experience in helping create "magic moments" in theatre. This is where I got hooked!
