MIDSUMMER JERSEY (Apr-June 2025)

My first Adult production, but my fourth set was for Midsummer Jersey from the Biggest Little Theatre Company. This was my first show that was entirely mine! And having had no budget (I Spent $35!) I was able to pull something great together using recycled materials! For this show, I painted the stairs into forest-y rocks, and created bushes, trees and moss. I also designed and painted the beauty salon and the lion statues for the Governor's house.

The Fairy , Oberon, Puck and Titania costumes are all designed, painted and sometimes even sewn by me. Each fairy had unique wings, headpiece and outfit.  I also designed and made all the beautician Romeo and Juliet costumes (which are terrible on purpose!)

For props, these were many! A fairy magazine, a glowing flower, snack carts, lanterns, and so much more. This was a lot of work, but honestly the most fun I've had designing and completing a set!

This was my original concept drawing after reading the script, but it's not what we ended up going with. In the second sketch, you can see what I came up with after seeing the blocking plans and discussing the vision with the director, who wanted to lean more Midsummer night's dream than Jersey shore.

And here's how that looked put into practice:
